Preparing for your mini shoot
Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your photo shoot. I am always available on email to chat through any concerns or ideas you might have!
Be clear about your objectives
Having a clear idea in your head about what you want to achieve through your images is really important. Fill out your brand questionnaire, make a Pinterest board and make sure you are confident on the 'look' you are going for.
If you are using images on your website, make sure you think about what orientation is best e.g landscape, portrait or banner images. I shoot a range but it’s important to know if you have something particular in mind. If you are looking for content to create Instagram reels, for example, you will want strong portrait images.
Give yourself time to set up
Feeling rushed is the best way to make you feel flustered when having your photo taken! Give yourself plenty of time to set up before I arrive, so we start the shoot feeling calm. Make sure you give your space a good clean as well!
Communicate with me
If there’s something you like, don’t like, or are worried about - tell me! I am not a mind reader so if you want to be aware of a stray piece of hair or if you hate being photographed form a certain angle. do let me know.
Think Props
A cup of tea, some flowers, things associated with your brand, merchandise, business cards - all these things are useful to strengthen your brand image.
What to wear?
See my blog post here! Top tip is make sure you're comfortable, and if you're not sure then trial wearing the outfit before hand to make sure.
Clear the clutter
Spend time removing anything in your space you don’t want in photos! It's worth prepping the room. This means giving it a clean too, my camera can pick up on all sorts. The aesthetics of a location is important so make sure your space is shining to its best.
Music
Music really helps people relax so if you want to put something on in the background do feel free.
